Surgical Instruments & Retractor Systems

AIP has immense in-house experience with the manufacture of multi-component surgical instruments. As mentioned on the medical home page of this site, AIP only machines the plastic components of any given assembly in house. This policy assures the customer that we are committed to reducing the likelihood of metallic cross contamination into our plastic components. Any sub-components of an assembly that are manufactured from metal are processed at an outside facility then received into AIP’s QC system prior to assembly into your device.

AIP becomes part of your engineering and product development team with a dedicated project engineer assigned to manage your product and any interface between our two companies. Please contact us to discuss prior success stories with other OEMS and how we can assure your product the same success.

The Radio-lucent nature and dimensional stability of carbon fiber filled materials makes these materials ideally suited for surgical retractor systems. AIP has perfected the science of machining these challenging materials to exacting tolerances not to mention reining-in the un-predictable movement nature of some carbon filled PEEK materials during machining. Resulting in complex geometries to near perfect positional tolerances while maintaining autoclave stability for thousands of cycles. The radio-lucency and light weight of these ISO 10993 bio-compatible materials has proven great advantages to the surgeon using these devices such as clearly defined imaging even while working behind or below the radio-lucent retractor system during MIS.

Our company is ISO 13485:2003 registered and has been audited by some of the most stringent OEMs in the othropaedic and medical industry.

Materials such as Tecanyl MT, RADEL R-PPSU, ULTEM-PEI, and PEEK can outperform metals in continuous steam and harsh European sterilization environments. The wear-resistance of Torlon, Vespel, and PEEK makes these materials ideal candidates for pump rollers, slide guides and bushings for internal wear components within medical equipment.

We offer precision machining of: ULTEM-PEI®, Celazole-PBI®, Ryton-PPS®, Vespel-PI®, Torlon-PAI®, Techtron-PPS®, RADEL-PPSU®, Polysulfone-PSU®, KEL-F®, PEEK®, Duratron®, KYNAR -PVDF®, Propylux HS2, TecaPRO MT, Tecanyl MT, TecaTec PEKK CW60, Orthtek, UHMW-PE, and many more
