CELAZOLE: PBI (Polybenzimidazole) maintains the highest mechanical properties of any plastic above 400 F (204 C). Celazole picks-up where other plastics leave-off. 500 F (260 C) to 750 F (399 C) is Celazole territory, with the ability to survive short-term exposure to 1400 F (760 C). Celazole has the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion and the highest compressive strength of any unfilled plastic. Celazole (PBI) is very "clean" in terms of ionic impurities and does not out-gas (except water). Celazole is a very specialized material for very specialized applications, it is commonly used in the aerospace, semiconductor, and chemical processing industries. Please see the Extreme Performance Materials Page for technical specifications on all grades of readily available Celazole, or request your own personal copy of AIP's Material Specifications Brochure. AIP specializes
