Composite Plastics - Columbia Industrial Products (CIP)
CIP Composite plastic is a laminated plastic material made by impregnating fabric with thermosetting resins. The physical and mechanical properties of all grades of CIP make them excellent bearing materials. CIP composite plastic offers design engineers an attractive, low cost alternative to the traditional materials used throughout industry for bearings, wear pads, and other components. CIP is only 1/6 the weight of steel, easily machines, has good dimensional stability and contains no harmful or toxic materials.
Advantages of using CIP composites:
Low maintenance, allows for reduction or elimination of web lubrication.
Long life, wear resistant.
Excellent dimensional stability in water, corrosive fluids and chemical solutions.
Excellent mechanical strength.
Excellent electrical insulation and non-magnetic series are available.
Non-abrasive to mating surfaces.
High load capacity and shock load resistant.
Does not contact abrasive fillers (no calcium carbonate fillers.)
